Tryouts
Note: Thunder tryout details for the 11th season (December 2010 to May 2011) will be posted in late-October/early-November. The information provided below is meant for archival purposes only.
Thunder tryouts take place over two days, and athletes should attend both days. If there are special circumstances why you may not be able to make both days, please speak with one of the coaches on the first day, or contact us ahead of time to let us know why (especially if you will not be there the first day).
During those two days, you will do a warm-up and be placed in stations to perform basic drills and have measurements done on physical statistics, such as height, jump reach, and timed sprints.

Here is some additional information that was used to answer some email questions:
- We ask that you to attend both tryouts as selections will be made on your performance on both days. Shortly after the second tryout, we will be posting the athletes selected here on the website.
- Volleyball BC requires that all athletes try out for the team according to their birth year. For example, 14U (Grade 8s) must have a birth year of 1996 to play for 14U, otherwise they must play up a level. Unlike school teams, Volleyball BC makes no exceptions for players who might be in Grade 8 but born in 1995.
- Tryouts are competitive. Last year 75 girls tried out for 24 spots on two teams — an “A” team and a “B”" Team.
- For those that do not get selected to play for a club team, we do have some other options. For example, we do hold Train and Play clinics from January to April for those who do not make the cut or those who want some extra practice. These are skills clinics that have some 4 on 4 tourneys for competition within the program.
- Last year, the 14Us practiced twice a week once basketball was over (once a week Jan-Feb. 15). They competed in 5 tournaments (Saturday or Sunday usually, except Provincials – a 2 day tourney).
